Restoring La La’s Family

La La’s story with GCA starts a lot like many others. Married with two small children, her family’s life began with hope and love. Tragically though, her husband became ill and required hospitalization.

The bills for his hospital stay put significant financial stress on the young family because her husband was the breadwinner and now he could no longer work. The medical bills piled up, and La La began to feel depression and despair while considering how to feed and shelter her children.

The children were not enrolled in school because any and all of the family’s money had to be spent paying medical bills that would hopefully result in their father coming home.

Unfortunately, La La’s husband’s illness proved to be fatal and after he passed, she was left alone to care for her two young children without the love and support of her husband.

It didn’t matter that La La could find no source of income in her community, for even if she could find work, she couldn’t leave her children unattended at home while she left for a job. She could work if her children were in school, but enrolling in school means paying tuition, and La La could not afford to pay.

Her family’s situation became more and more difficult. Finally, she sought help from her community and was told about the work of GCA in her area.

GCA was able to step in at this moment in La La’s life to provide concrete support for them in the form of arranging a stable, safe place for her and her children to stay with access to regular meals.

GCA offered emotional support to La La and her children through counseling as well as classes on positive parenting. GCA also assisted in enrolling the two children in school and they now attend regularly. La La is able to work now and provide for her family.

GCA helped to restore La La’s family after unspeakable loss.

We at GCA celebrate La La who, along with her children, have experienced remarkable improvements in their emotional well-being and continued stability in their home and family unit.

Because of your support, these two precious siblings get to experience childhood together with the mom they adore.
