Growing up in a strong, healthy family is a child's best protection from abuse and trafficking and God's design for healthy development.
However, 8 million children are growing up in orphanages making them vulnerable to injustice. Because research shows the negative impact of institutional care on children, the Convention on the Rights of the Child of 1989, gave every child the right to a family. Governments around the globe are mandating care reform for the best interest of their children. Organizations need to be equipped to prepare children and families in advance.
When an organization makes the important decision to transition from long-term residential care to family-based care, it is just the beginning of their journey. Field staff will need the practical, hands-on social work skills to ensure children are safe in the transition process. SFAC has helped organizations in over 30 countries and we are partnering to multiply their efforts.
For organizations seeking to transition care models, we've been there and we know how important it is to keep children safe in the process. When we transitioned from long-term residential care to family-based care, we had amazing training and an onsite consultant who walked alongside our staff and gave them the confidence they needed to safely place children in loving families.
We're partnering with those who helped us in order to provide onsite assistance to other groups embarking on the same journey. If onsite help would benefit your team and the children in your care, sign up below for more information.
If you are a social worker who loves Jesus and is passionate about international child protection, sign up to learn how you can promote best practice both globally and right here at home.
For those interested in serving internationally, our training program will build upon your current skills and prepare you to serve in a cross-cultural setting. It will equip you to provide onsite training that will increase the social work capacity of organizations seeking to safely transition the children in their care into loving families.
You can make a global impact right here in the US by educating your local church and networks about the importance of children growing up in families.
