A Beacon of Hope

March 2025

In the quiet streets of Dala, Rajathingyan Ward, Daw Mary lives with her husband, U Maung Tin Win, and their daughter, Ma Moe Thida. But until recently, her home was a place of loneliness and emotional pain.

When the GCA team first met Daw Mary in October 2022, she was a woman burdened by isolation and silence. She spent most of her days alone, keeping her emotions bottled up and avoiding conversations about the struggles in her life. Distrust of her neighbors and a lack of support left her feeling abandoned.

It wasn’t until GCA began visiting her home that her story began to change. Through consistent care and genuine interest, Daw Mary slowly opened up, sharing the heartache caused by her husband’s anger, the discrimination she faced as a believer, and the painful days when food was scarce. With every visit, her walls came down, and she began to feel the weight of her burdens lifting.

GCA was the friend Daw Mary needed

Today, Daw Mary’s life is transformed. Tuesday visits with the GCA team have become the highlight of her week, bringing encouragement and joy. Through these moments of connection, she has gained valuable insights into building a stronger, more peaceful family life. Her newfound confidence has even extended beyond her immediate family—she recently took in her struggling niece, offering her a loving home and the warmth of a second chance.

Daw Mary often says, “Caring for my family and my niece with peace and joy wouldn’t have been possible without the GCA team’s support.” Her journey from loneliness to hope is a testament to the power of love, connection, and encouragement.
