At just three years old, Htain Lin Aung’s world was filled with uncertainty. His father was in jail, and his mother faced an impossible dilemma: she needed to work full-time to support her family, but without childcare, she had no way to safely do so. Desperate for a solution, she turned to GCA’s Early Intervention Center, where she found not just childcare for Htain Lin Aung, but a path toward stability and growth.
When Htain Lin Aung first arrived, he was withdrawn, overwhelmed, and would frequently cry. He avoided other children, struggled to communicate, and reacted with frustration. Basic tasks felt overwhelming and even impossible.
GCA’s EI Team stepped in at a crucial moment in Htain Lin Aung’s life.
Seeing his potential, GCA teachers approached Htain Lin Aung with patience, love, and encouragement. They created a safe space where he could first trust, then learn, grow, and connect. Slowly, he began to emerge from his fearful state, and participate and find joy in the classroom.
After Htain Lin Aung settled into the program, his transformation was undeniable. His temper cooled, his confidence grew, and he started forming real friendships. He learned to share, express himself, and even apologize when needed.
Big steps for a young child!
Today, Htain Lin Aung thrives! He loves: coloring, playing soccer, and learning new languages; now confidently naming colors in Burmese, English, and even some Thai. Every morning, he arrives smiling, eager to learn and play.
Because of your generosity, children like Htain Lin Aung don’t just have a place to go to spend the day; they have a place to grow and find their own strength. Thank you for making transformations like these possible.
