Strong Family Bonds
GCA Myanmar
January 2026
In a quiet village in Myanmar, Aung Myint has faced more hardship than most. After losing his wife to a chronic illness three years ago, he was left to care for his two children, Ko Min (18) and Ma Thida (16), while grappling with his own health issues and emotional struggles. To make matters more complicated, his relationships with his children were strained, and troubles from his past still isolated him from his community.
GCA stepped in with compassion and support, offering counseling, prayer, and guidance to address his health concerns. Seeing his relationship with GCA, the perceptions of his community began to change. Slowly but surely, he started rebuilding trust with his neighbors and repairing his relationships within the village.
A family comes together
Aung Myint’s children also showed incredible resilience during these challenging years. His daughter, Ma Thida pursued a three-month Chinese language course in hopes of building a better future. When financial difficulties arose, GCA provided accommodation and food to support her. When she made the decision to return home to care for her father, GCA was there to offer guidance. Today, she works to support him financially while taking on responsibilities she once struggled with: caring for her own emotional well-being, as well as the household. Her growth has been remarkable, and her dedication to her father reflects a deep love and strength of character.
Aung Myint’s son, Ko Min, faced his own struggles and is working toward a hopeful future. Through GCA’s ongoing support, father and son have reconnected and begun to heal their bond.
Perhaps the most profound transformation has been in Aung Myint himself. Once consumed by his struggles, his physical and emotional health have shown clear improvement. Though his journey isn’t complete, the progress he has made, both personally and within his family, is undeniable.
The story of Aung Myint and his family is one of perseverance, healing, and hope. GCA’s consistent care has helped shift the trajectory of their lives, bringing light to some of their darkest moments.
