The Khaing Family’s Resilience

Wa Wa Khaing and her husband, U Ko, are parents to three daughters: 13-year-old Sin Moe, 6-year-old Thitsa, and 2-year-old Kavya. Like many migrant families, they faced tremendous challenges trying to make ends meet.

When they weren’t paid for their work on a road construction project, their lives unraveled. With no income, they struggled to feed their children and maintain even a modest living situation. Desperate for help, Wa Wa reached out to GCA.

The GCA Myanmar Team met with the family to build trust and assess their needs. GCA was able to  provide  immediate relief of food supplies and materials to strengthen their makeshift home, and then, began offering practical guidance. Over time and through building relationships, we addressed their long-term needs. Together, we explored ways to improve their situation, including discussions about reliable employment opportunities, financial management, and prioritizing their three children’s well-being.

GCA Myanmar empowered Wa Wa and U Ko to believe in their resilience.

Today, Wa Wa’s and U Ko’s work has stabilized. They’ve returned to steady employment in road construction, and for the first time, they feel equipped to manage their income wisely. They expressed heartfelt gratitude to GCA for teaching them financial skills and supporting them in their time of greatest need.

Their daughters are now thriving at home where stability and hope have been restored. We celebrate with them!

Your support makes stories like this possible. By partnering with GCA, you help vulnerable families like Wa Wa’s not only survive but rebuild their lives with dignity and resilience. Together, we can create brighter futures for children and their families.

Bright futures await these families!
Thank you for giving to GCA!
